At preliminary design stage we mainly compare design alternatives by evaluating them against significant criteria from the yachtowner's point of interest, such as, yacht purpose, general arrangement, design preferences, speed, navigation area, costs of exploitation or similar. There are various design models. Mostly, iterative design concept against design spiral is used, where costs are preliminary calculated as function of masses, volumes or areas. Usually few sketches with preliminary project cost evaluation and main characteristic are delivered. The sketches usually consist of side and top view, with preliminary interior space division.
To be an effective designer today, you need tools to quickly develop your designs and accurately communicate them to everyone in the product research, development, marketing, and manufacturing or construction process. Starting with a sketch, drawing, physical model, scan data, or only an idea, our last generation 3D modeling software provides the tools to accurately model and document our designs ready for rendering, animation, drafting, engineering, analysis, and manufacturing or construction. We can offer a design, engineering, analysis, documentation or anything of any size no matter how small or how large it can be.
Naval architecture
Naval architecture involves basic and applied research, design evaluation and calculations during all stages of the life of a marine vehicle. Ship design calculations are required for new ships as well as for ships being modified (by means of conversion, rebuilding, modernization, or repair). Naval architecture also involves formulation of safety regulations and the approval and certification of ship designs to meet statutory and non-statutory requirements. Due to the complexity associated with operating in a marine environment, naval architecture is a co-operative effort between groups of technically skilled individuals specialists in particular fields, often coordinated by a lead naval architect.
Hydrostatic & stability
The hydrostatic approach to ship stability aims to balance idealized ship weight against buoyancy forces. Ship stability is an area of naval architecture and ship design that deals with how a ship behaves at sea, both in still water and in waves. Considerations are made as to the center of gravity and center of buoyancy of vessels and how they interact. Historically, stability calculations for ships relied on rule-of-thumb calculations, but today we use very sofisticated software to predict the intact and damaged stability of the ship, influence of sea environment as waves, wind etc... However, if necessary, ship model basin allows us even more complex analysis.
Power prediction
Our power prediction software calculates the powering requirements of vessels covering a large range of hull forms from merchant ships to planing vessels, using a variety of analytical and regression methods. The program can calculate the effect of appendages and the effect of changes in hull form parameters. In addition to calculating the resistance and effective horse power, the program also calculates the propulsive coefficients for each speed and gives us guidance how to improve hull and powering characteristics. However, as for hydrostatic and stability, ship model basin allows us even more complex propulsion analysis.
Rendering & project presentation
Rendering is a very complex process of generating an image from a 3D computer model, by means of computer programs. It allows us to present to our client a realsitic view of the final product as well as to perform kinematic of interesting parts of the 3D model. The 3D model is generated by sufaces, with the last 3D modelling software generation, allowing us to assign to all single model element their own characteristics as material, color, weight etc... Upon such model, we are able to improve or completely change the project, in an relatively early project stage.
Exterior design
Exterior design is strongly linked to the preliminary vision, general arrangement plan, navigation area and yacht type. That is the main reason why normaly, the exterior design is created by the yacht designer in a way to fulfill his preliminary vision. For exterior design we use 3D computer models as well as for rendering and project presentation.
